Perry King & Santiago Miranda for Akaba desk with a module ‘La Vuelta’
Desk with free standing roll cabinet container model ‘La Vuelta’ designed by Perry King & Santiago Miranda for Akaba in the late 1980s. This Model is called “La Vuelta” after the Spanish bicycle race course.
The desk has a frame in black painted and chromed metal, with two legs made of bicycle forks. The desk is high quality crafted and the special ‘bird’s-eye’ maple wood Alpi veneer top makes it very unique. The backside of the desk is crafted in black leather. The roll container has a black-matte surface and handles are made of chromed metal, the top plate is also in Alpi veneer.
This model stands in The Museu del Disseny de Barcelona – a new center of Barcelona’s Institute of Culture, which works to promote better understanding and good use of the design world, acting as a museum and laboratory.
Traces of wear commensurate with age, some lighter spots on the desk plate.
