Set of 6 Danish Crestrail chairs by Jørgen Gammelgaard for Schiang

Beautiful set of ‘Crestrail’ chairs designed by Jørgen Gammelgaard for Schiang in the 1980s. The chairs feature sculptural semicircular back with seat upholstered in striped fabric.

Jørgen Gammelgaard belonged to a generation of skillful furniture designers who had their background to the very well organised Danish apprenticeship system. Following this apprenticeship Gammelgaard studied under Grete Jalk and then became a visiting student at the Danish Royal Academy’s furniture school working under Poul Kjærholm and Ole Wanscher.
